Catching Up with FIRST World

In the U.S., the female worker is commonplace. There are female police officers, fire and rescue, and on and on.

This is new in the Land of Smiles.

For the first time in Thailand, the police academy is asking the ladies to join the fight for truth, justice, and the Thai way.

Asking for female recruits may seem common to you, but it’s a big departure from the culture of the country and a display of Western influence.

Since many crimes are committed against women, the logic is that more women should be involved in the investigations.

Each academy class only consists of 40 recruits, but the next class, scheduled for February will include 10 women.

Some of the requirements are height, an undergraduate degree, and be at least 21 years of age.
