NO SMOKING, is the new sign of the times in Thailand. Beginning on the 17th of February, it will be against the law and carry a 2,000 baht fine to smoke in nightclubs, pubs, and even the popular open-air market in Bangkok… (it’s known as Chatuchak, The Weekend Market, and JJ Market) and all other open air markets.
When you go into a restaurant which has it’s tables in an outdoor setting, you will be asked if you prefer the smoking or non-smoking section.
I suspect frazzled nerves and surprised tourists in the months and weeks following the February 17th law change.
